Geomancers
Now, this is an interesting class. They're very fun to play around with, although they will annoy you at a few spots. Now, the party selection is crucial. I played with a mix, but I really wished I had used 4 females. They don't do much less with Attack UP, but their Elemental damage is more. As you'll probably be using Elemental, go with females. (Of course, if you just finished Knights, go with males, you'll be reflexively using Knight-ish strategies.) You get ranged moves, 20% chance of status on top of that, Attack UP, shields, decent attack, all-around stats. You don't get a decent movement, and your reaction can be counter-productive later on, once you start Ice Healing. They are like Knights with weak magic. They get Clothes, Hats, and Robes, which propels them far past Knights in power. A Knight at level 35 with a Diamond Sword, helm, and armor does far less than a Geomancer at level 35 with a Diamond Sword, Attack UP, Twist Headband, and Power Sleeve. Despite what Munki says "Their movement abilities are arguably the worst in the game.", they're not. They have innate Move 4. That's like having Move+1.
Early Game: Pitfall, Ivy, Gusty Wind, Kamaitachi, Carve Model. Then expand to Local Quake and Sandstorm. Before Zeakden, learn Blizzard.
Mid Game: Counter Flood, Attack UP, the rest of the Elementals.
Last: The movement abilities, then Lava Ball.
Now for the hard battles:
Defeat Elmdor!: Fire Shields, Demon Fire. Swarm him and use Demon fire. Hope for Counter Floods. Set up in a + with the center missing, and put the other person in the back right, between the "back" person and the "right" person.. This makes you be set up perfectly right away. Elmdor will jump in and Muramasa.When you go, it'll be the person in front, then left, then right, then back. Have the person in back do Demon Fire then back up, then the far back right person should go to where he was. Use another Demon Fire. Of course, if one of the assassins targets an Ultima on someone, that person should stay put, and have someone else move instead. Here's a pic to clarify.
~~F~~
~LER~
~~BK~
K is the person who goes in the back right. F is "Front", L is "Left", R is "Right", B is "Back", and E is where Elmdor will teleport.
Defeat Dycedarg's Elder Brother: Before entering Igros, disable Counter Flood, equip an Ice Brand and Ice Shield, and wear whatever gives you the most HP, but still keeps you under 10 Speed, and Angel Rings. Now that you've done this, all you have to do is just gradually move forward, keeping your HP up via Ice Healing. Use Carve Model on the Knights every chance you get, and hope Zalbag starts with a Magic Ruin so Bolt3 won't kill you. Now, make sure you have a couple of people in range when you kill Dycedarg.
Defeat Adramelk!: Well, hopefully everyone's still alive, even if they've been reraised. Adramelk seems to enjoy Bolt 4'ing Ice Shield-wearers, so... redirection time! Just stay out of range. Bolt 4 is slow. If you have 10 speed, you should be able to go before Bolt 4, unless you just moved. 9 probably would too, unless you just moved. 10 speed is preferable here. Just make him suffer. Hitting him while charging and redirecting Bolt 4 at the same time will make a Goat-fool out of him.
Defeat Altima!: Well, you should do this:
Level 35 or greater
Rune Blade
Flame Shield
Thief Hat (10 Speed)
Black Costume
Angel Rings

Elemental
(none)
Counter Flood
Attack UP
*irrelevant*

Now, you may have heard of Echo Demon Fire, wherein you use Demon Fire+ Counter Flood to heal. I suggested it for Elmdor. Now, in this battle, it's not a good idea. Why? Demon Fire can put you to sleep, and this battle is a difficult one already. Don't lose your tenuous grip on your strategy by taking a snooze. See those Machine panels? Echo Lava Ball instead when you need to heal. Lava Ball inflicts Dead, but Angel Rings, which you'd equip anyway, prevent it.

Notice how i put to have 10 speed? Normally being faster is a bad thing, but in this fight, it's necessary. You see, Altima and 2 demons are lined up on flat ground, ready to be Elementaled. You should line up like this:
FGXGF
~~~~~
~~~~~

F is a female, if you have them. G can be male or female.
Note: X is where Ramza starts, but his position is irrelevant.

Now, you send one female forward and left so she's on Lava Ball terrain. It can hit Altima and the Demons, so do it. Your "G" goes up to do Demon Fire. The other "G" does the same. The "F" goes forward and right to do a Lava Ball. Ramza can physically attack, but I recommend against it, unless both of the Demons are dead or sleeping.

Note how you can put them to sleep with Demon Fire? If this happens, do not target a Demon Fire where it hits that Demon unless it kills them, as it will wake them up. Altima cannot be put on Sleep, Dead, or Stop (the three statuses derived from the terrain on this level).

Now, you have 2 Demons left, and Altima. After they go, Alma will probably still be alive (and MBarriered), as you were grouped. Expect a Grand Cross (ouch) or an Ultima (hope for this). Just go for it now, killing the Demons first.

Altima 2: Now you just stay spread out. This is the time to use Lava Ball to heal, but be wary of using it if the recipient is not on Lava Ball terrain. Hope for luck, and use strategy. When desperate, Demon Fire, but don't rely on it.
