They have ridiculously high PA, Martial Arts, ranged abilities, Counter, Hamedo, HP Restore, and Revive. Unfortunately, they have 2 vertical tolerance on their good ranged move, 0 on some close range moves, 0 on Chakra, 0 on Revive, and a general annoyance of low vertical tolerance. You will loathe uneven terrain by the time you are done with them. They lack HP, lack hats/helmets, and have many pointless skills. Which ones? Secret Fist seems to lack use, Spin Fist certainly does (0 vertical tolerance), Repeating Fist does random damage, and they don't like fighting fast enemies. At all. They're lousy against swarms and battles with a wall in the middle. They're lousy against mages, even with low faith.
You should get Wave Fist first, as it's basically "Attack" with 3 range. Earth Slash is useful, even moreso with Earth Clothes. You can heal yourselves with it, and it has 2 more vertical tolerance than Chakra. Downside? You can't heal the user with it. Counter is useful early on, Hamedo in story battles, and HP Restore for Weigraf. *Lightning Stab* *HP Restore*.

The first hard battle is Zaland Fort City. Get to level 14 and equip Power Wrists. Oh, look, it's not hard anymore!
Now, you go all the way to Golgorand with minimal trouble. Here you should equip Diamond Armlets and, if you have a Capricorn, put him on Ramza's side. Any Pisces need to go on the other side. Focus on Gafgarion, then the Archers. Why not the Knights? You have Hamedo.
There aren't many other battles that are hard, but I will say this. Focus on Earth Slash boosting, unless they are all immune to earth. Where would this be? Yuguo Woods and Poeskas Lake.
Earth Clothes or Power Sleeves and Bracer make a great combination.
